Parent Involvement

The Commitment And Enthusiasm Of Each Family Is What Makes The School A Vital And Growing Operation.

Each family participates in the following ways:

"Parent Help" In Your Child's Class

Parents work in the classroom on a rotating basis, giving each child the opportunity to share the preschool day with a parent or guardian. Parent helping is typically once every 3 to 4 weeks, depending on class size. Parents assist the teacher and provide a nutritious snack for the class.

School Job

Each family holds one school job.

Service Hours

Families are required to complete 10 service hours. This obligation includes working a shift at one of the scheduled Maintenance Days throughout the school year (3 service hours) and working a shift at one fundraising/community event (3 service hours). The remaining 4 hours may be earned by performing miscellaneous tasks throughout the school year, or buying out of these remaining 4 service hours at $100/hour.

Training Hours

All parents assisting in the classroom are considered school staff by the state of Virginia and, per Virginia legislation relevant to the school's licensing, are required to complete four hours of continuing education by the end of the school year. Training hours are earned by attending All-School Meetings, orientation, and other school sponsored training events or completing appropriate external training activities.
